Florida Bee Farm owner Jim Quinlan is an expert beekeeper and purveyor of raw honey. On his 10-acre farm in Clearwater, Florida, Jim keeps around a dozen bee hives, and provides educational tours of his hives to those interested in knowing what the buzz is all about.
In this interview, he talks about what happens when bees swarm, how new queen bees are made, and the scouts who help keep the hive safe and thriving. Jim tells us about bee democracy, bee communication and their many other intelligent feats.
Jim also grows bee-friendly flowers, and sells jars of his honey on the honor system.
