Diving in the Florida Keys for spiny lobsters is a favorite water activity for residents and visitors. The Florida spiny lobster season opens in late summer through spring to give the lobsters ample time to grow and keep the population healthy. Danielle Rose, a Tampa blogger, talks about her family’s traditions in the Keys and lobster recipes in Episode 16.
For many Floridians, seafood is life and it’s important to keep this food source sustainable. In August, the Florida Spiny Lobster opens and people flock to the Florida Keys to snorkel for fresh spiny lobster. Danielle Rose, a Tampa resident and author of the blog, Suwannee Rose, talks with Dalia Colón about what is needed to participate legally in lobster diving and how to prepare this delicacy of the sea.
During the interview, Danielle shares two of her recipes from her blog and those are linked below.
“It’s all about being with my family honestly. I absolutely love our days on the boat, and swimming, and coming back to the dock and making this beautiful dinner together, there’s nothing better,”
