Born and Bread Bakehouse owner Jennifer Smurr was looking for a change from the fashion industry when she decided to study the art of baking bread. Today, her recipes are prized by locals who often line up around the block. She often uses honey in her recipes, such as the popular orange blossom honey, or her personal favorite, buckwheat.
Social media has played a part in her success. Jennifer uses Facebook to get the word out about her weekly menu, and her instagram has over 55,000 followers from all over the world.
Jennifer says that baking offers lessons on life:
“As cheesy as it sounds, give time time. There’s no part of what we do that you can rush. You have to be very patient, and when you mess up, you have to be able to say I’ve got tomorrow,”
